The Season of Giving

We are all cutting back this year a little bit.  The state of the economy dictates that very few of us have unlimited cash flow for holiday shopping.  If this is the case with you, check out the give list - 71 ways to give without opening your wallet! (thanks to @sleepypasture on twitter for that link)

A few of my favourite ideas from the list are:

Record a session telling stories with your parents or grandparents and gave it to all of your siblings (inspired by StoryCorps).

Volunteer your time as a fundraiser, designer, accountant, web developer, board member, mentor, pie baker to a social entrepreneur.

If you crochet or knit and have extra yarn sitting around, make winter scarves or gloves and donate to an nonprofit working with at-risk populations.

Visit, sit and listen to an elderly neighbor. We rarely take the time to learn from our elders and listening is a gift.

There are many great ideas contained within these 71, but I bet you could think of 71 more if you put your mind to it!   I realize that there is only a week (exactly) until Christmas Day, but it is never too late to help those in need.  The Holidays tend to bring out the charity in the hearts of most people.  Now if we could just harness this energy and spirit of giving for the rest of the year, our world would certainly improve exponentially!

Peace and Happy Holidays!
